Home Supporting Organizations The Proposal Existing Contaminants Why say NO How you can help Calendar of Events Research Summaries Letters and Publicity Who I Am |
How you can helpFirst and foremost, I strongly recommend that you mail or email a letter to Mr. Erik Olson at the Snohomish County Planning Department. At this time and until a Public Hearing is scheduled, this is your PRIMARY method to oppose MXGP's proposal for a motorcross track in Maltby. Although the initial comment period closed on March 13, you can still submit your input on or before the date of the Public Hearing. Moreover, I strongly recommend that you ask to become a PARTY OF RECORD on this matter. Once you are registered as a Party of Record, you will be permitted to speak at future meetings and participate in any possible votes on this matter. Attention King County residents. Noise travels and does not limit itself to County lines. Please help oppose MXGP's proposal. Send a letter to Snohomish County, and then send a copy of your letter to King County. Remember these fundamentals when writing your letter:
In addition, see the Why say NO information that is summarized for you. Think about what aspects of MXGP's proposal are incompatible with the community. Review the proposal documents. Can you find any flaws or fundamental oversights in any of those documents? Do you have a coworker, friend, or acquaintance with expert knowledge in a subject area such as noise, traffic, pollution, geology, zoning, or other? Now is the time to cash in any personal favors, or extend a future favor to the individual in return for their time and input. For example, look at the Proposal documents and see what was identified by a Maltby resident. Submit your letter to Mr. Olson using this address or email address: Once your letter is complete and submitted to Mr. Olson, take a few minutes and send your letter to every member of the Snohomish County Council. Use a separate letter or email message for each member. Communicate your dissatisfaction with the MXGP proposal to them. Ask the Council why this proposal is being considered on a site that is likely contaminated with toxic waste. Request a formal reply to your letter or email message. Finally, please tell your friends and neighbors about the MXGP proposal, how it threatens the serenity of the community, and that our County government is considering this proposal even though the Snohomish Health District identified a problem with contaminated materials at the site almost two months (December 12, 2005) before the County received the MXGP proposal on February 8, 2006. If your neighbors don't have access to a computer, print this website for them or invite them over for a cup of coffee and review the website together. |
